Barnes names new senior VP, president of Barnes Aerospace

Bristol aerospace manufacturer Barnes Group has named Ian M. Reason to a senior executive position, company officials announced.

Barnes Group announced this week that Reason would be taking over as senior vice president of Barnes and president of Barnes Aerospace beginning May 2.

Reason will succeed Michael A. Beck, who is retiring from the company on April 30.

Before Barnes, Reason was president of mechanical solutions, interiors and structures with Pennsylvania-based Triumph Group, an aviation and industrial components manufacturer. Prior to that he worked at BAE Systems in various roles from 2004-2016. BAE is a British arms, aerospace and security contractor.

Reason has a master’s degree in defense and management studies from King’s College London, a master’s degree in weapon systems from Cranfield Institute of Technology, and a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the Royal Naval Engineering College.
